Career Lecture Series
In-School
One to two class periods where a diverse range of professionals (e.g., healthcare, trades, business, sciences, etc.) will visit area high schools and provide an in-depth discussion about their respective careers, the skills and/or educational pathways required to be successful and the potential opportunities for advancement. Students will have the opportunity to interact with these professionals to stimulate conversations about the endless careers out there. (9th ‐ 12th grade)

Career Pathway Presentation
An interactive presentation that challenges students to probe personal interests, talents, and passions that will impact their journey to employment, career, college, and beyond. (8th – 12th grade)

Hospital Externship
Students visit area hospitals for two to three hours once a week for six-seven weeks during the fall or spring semester. Students focus on one key department during each visit and participate in a department tour, meet the staff, learn about the work and discuss educational requirements for success in the particular staff specialty. (10th ‐ 12th grade)

Internship | Paid
Earn while you learn! One- to two-year internships with a worksite mentor and educational coordinator for learning support. Part-time employment with an employer that enhances your stated career pathway. Employment takes place during the school year and most students leave school early to work in the afternoon, but placements are flexible. Schedules vary depending on employer need, school schedules, school policy and the academic progression of individual students. EITC funding is available to some employers to provide salary for these placements. (11th and 12th grades)

Internship | Unpaid
Part-time work-based learning in a field or industry that aligns with your stated career pathway. These run during the school year and the actual duration and number of participation hours are flexible. Schedules vary depending on work place schedule, school schedules, school policy and the academic progression of the individual student. These placements can include working with professionals, trade groups, non-profits and volunteer organizations. Each placement is designed to move the student along a stated career pathway. (11th and 12th grades)

Job Shadowing
Limited duration opportunities for students to shadow a professional in a field of interest. Typical job shadowing experiences last for several hours during the school day or over the summer. (10th - 12th grade)

One-on-One Conversation with a Professional
A one-on-one conversation with a student and a professional/employer in an area that they are interested in learning more about. A main focus point for NTIEC is to secure the professional as well as assisting the students with developing thought out prep questions and follow-up. NTIEC has connections to professionals all over the country. (9th – 12th grade)

Worksite Tours
Students will visit local businesses in the manufacturing, energy, healthcare, automotive, etc. (All grades)
