A five-day summer experience program held in July. Students will be engaged in everything agriculture from planting to raising and caring for livestock. Field trips to farms and agricultural support industries will expose students to a variety of careers available in the agriculture sector. Leaders in the industry will help educate students in leadership and team building activities. (9th and 12th grade)

Career Lecture Series (In-School)
One to two class periods where a diverse range of professionals (e.g., healthcare, trades, business, sciences, etc.) will visit area high schools and provide an in-depth discussion about their respective careers, the skills and/or educational pathways required to be successful and the potential opportunities for advancement. Students will have the opportunity to interact with these professionals to stimulate conversations about the endless careers out there.

Careers in Hot Demand
A one-day event that introduces students to various careers and the skills necessary to be successful in those careers. Students will meet with employers in a roundtable setting and have the opportunity to interact and ask questions regarding their jobs. (9th ‐ 12th grade)

Dental Externship
The dental externship program has been modeled after NTIEC’s long-standing hospital externship program, whereas students will participate for three hours a day, once a week for approximately five-seven weeks during the fall and spring semesters. This unique opportunity will provide students with an up front and close look at the various jobs available in dentistry. They will observe and shadow dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, lab technicians and the office staff. (10th ‐ 12th grade)

Program includes interactions with a range of employees at each business and discussions on work responsibilities, educational requirements, opportunities for advancement, etc. (Teachers and Administrators ‐ Act 48 credit can be granted)

Students will participate in classroom instruction and field trips with representatives of Cabot Oil & Gas, Williams, Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas and local energy companies. Students visit area hospitals for two to three hours once a week for six-seven weeks during the fall or spring semester. Students focus on one key department during each visit and participate in a department tour, meet the staff, learn about the work and discuss educational requirements for success in the particular staff specialty. (10th ‐ 12th grade)

Earn while you learn! One- to two-year internships with a worksite mentor and educational coordinator for learning support. Part-time employment with an employer that enhances your stated career pathway. Employment takes place during the school year and most students leave school early to work in the afternoon, but placements are flexible. Schedules vary depending on employer need, school schedules, school policy and the academic progression of individual students. EITC funding is available to some employers to provide salary for these placements. (11th and 12th grades)

These placements can include working with professionals, trade groups, non-profits and volunteer organizations. Each placement is designed to move the student along a stated career pathway. (11th and 12th grades)

Limited duration opportunities for students to shadow a professional in a field of interest. Typical job shadowing experiences last for several hours during the school day or over the summer. (10th - 12th grade)

One-on-One Conversation with a Professional
A one-on-one conversation with a student and a professional/employer in an area that they are interested in learning more about. A main focus point for NTIEC is to secure the professional as well as assisting the students with developing thought out prep questions and follow-up. NTIEC has connections to professionals all over the country. (9th – 12th grade)

Physical Therapy Externship
Students visit an area physical therapy facility for three hours, once a week for six-seven weeks during the fall or spring semester. Students work side-by-side with a physical therapist as they treat patients gaining value experience. They learn about what physical therapists and physical therapy assistants do, educational requirements for both fields. (10th – 12th grade)

Safety City
A one-hour electrical safety presentation developed by Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative. This presentation utilizes an age appropriate video along with an energized table top model of an electrical distribution system. The program ends with a question and answer period. (4th grade)

Vehicular Career Day
One-day experience where students get to see vehicles/mobile equipment units and interact directly with the professionals who operate these vehicles in the course of their work. Some examples are linemen, grader operators, police, well drillers, fuel delivery and home health professionals. (5th grade)
