Future Healthcare Providers in Training Thanks to NTIEC

NTIEC is proud to announce that five of our students have graduated from a seven-week externship program at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale!

Working together, Wayne Memorial and NTIEC were able to create a safe but educational program for the students. Two seniors, one junior, and two sophomores from Blue Ridge, Abington Heights and Susquehanna Community had the amazing opportunity to work with Ms. Joyce Malicky, the volunteer coordinator at Wayne Memorial, and a variety of healthcare professionals to receive a safe but hands-on education about a variety of jobs in the medical field during the pandemic.

Bethany Burns, Amelia Farry, Gracey Hinkley, Cadence Lusk, and Hannah McCarthy were able to rotate through several departments that included the maternity ward, same day surgery, the ICU, the lab, and imaging during their visits. About the experience, the girls said they learned so much more about their prospective careers and their experiences in the hospital only solidified their career pathways!
